Today, 24/02/2024, the 13th package of EU sanctions aimed at tightening economic sanctions against Russia comes into effect.
The main measures of the new package of sanction are:
- Expansion of restrictions on advanced technological products that could enhance the Russian military and defense sector: in this regard, components used for the development and production of drones, such as electric transformers, static converters, and inductors, as well as aluminum capacitors, which have military applications, such as in missiles, drones, and communication systems for aircraft and ships, are added.
- Inclusion, among the entities listed by the EU, of additional companies and individuals involved in the Russian military effort.
- Introduction of restrictions on the export of dual-use goods and technologies—or those that could contribute to technological advancements in the Russian defense sector—to companies in third countries (including China, Kazakhstan, India, Serbia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Turkey) involved in re-export operations to Russia of technological instruments and military components manufactured in the EU.
